ARC the Messenger - No Public

No Public
(A. Cobbs, S. Drucker, J Lardizabal)
Vocals: ARC the Messenger and Sierra Drucker
Produced by: J Lardizabal

I’ve known ARC since the 6th grade so this is something special. We’ve been through bands together (what up Rulesbroke!), failed solo projects, and just life. I’m proud to have witnessed his evolution. In a time where so many rappers write about trivial things, ARC is an emcee that writes with substance. He writes about knowledge, growth, journeys, and many other things that simply remain timeless. “No Public” is no exception. It’s the antithesis of what goes on in mainstream media today. It’s about staying true to yourself no matter what. ARC sent me a text message saying that this is the hardest track I’ve ever put together. It is, but it wouldn’t be without the voice of my friend from Proper Vein, Sierra Drucker. Thanks Sierra! To hear “No Public” click HERE.

We had a great year in 2010! We fell a little short of our goals, but we definitely set the table for 2011. We’ll be releasing a lot of new music in these next few months, so please stay tuned. Thank you to all who helped make things happen for us this past year; we look forward to working with you again in 2011. To our new friends, we look forward to building with you in the very near future. Happy New Year from Tone Seekers!

Cha-Cha- Changes

It’s funny, the other day, I was having a debate with a fellow musician about the changes a band can or can’t make from project to project. His thinking was that a band or artist doesn’t usually change up their style or sound much. The impression I got from him was that starting a new band would be the more logical route towards change. I responded by asking him if he didn’t think Let it Be was completely different from Sgt. Pepper’s. My feeling is that the best artists change and progress all the time. A perfect example of this is David Bowie. Bowie has been reinventing himself and his music for a good part of five decades. During a brief period between 1971 and 1973, he even created a personna named Ziggy Stardust. The albums during this time (Honky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and Aladdin Sane) were so different and so imaginative that you can’t help but think of him as nothing short of genius.

To celebrate changes, here’s a live performance of Ziggy in 1973 performing “Changes” and “Space Oddity.”

Proper Vein - A Song for Emily

A Song for Emily
(T. Bailey, N. Lee)
Electric Piano: Ny Lee
Guitars: Tanner Bailey
Drums: Grace Umali
Organs: J Lardizabal
Vocals: Sierra Drucker

This waltz has Ny Lee’s fingerprints all over it. From the haunting Electric Piano to the lullaby style lyrics. It’s short and sweet and one of my favorite PV tunes. I’d also like to thank Grace Umali for playing drums for us. She’s like family and hopefully, we’ll be doing more with her in the near future. Click HERE to listen.
